Vermilion County Unveils New WallDog Mural Celebrating 16,000 Acres of Parks
Renowned WallDog Artist Mike Meyer to Reveal Landmark Public Art Installation at The Garden at 107 (VRBC)
DANVILLE, IL (September 4, 2026) – Vermilion County residents, visitors, and community leaders are invited to celebrate the unveiling of a new WallDog mural honoring the county’s more than 16,000 acres of parks and natural spaces. The public unveiling will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at The Garden at 107 (VRBC), coinciding with First Friday’s Discover Downtown Danville event.
Created by internationally recognized WallDog artist Mike Meyer, the mural showcases the beauty, recreation, and economic impact of Vermilion County’s extensive parklands, highlighting the region’s commitment to conservation, tourism, outdoor recreation, and quality of life.
The mural serves as a vibrant visual tribute to the thousands of acres of public parks, trails, forests, waterways, and natural areas that make Vermilion County a destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.
“Public art has the power to tell our story and celebrate what makes our community unique,” said Rhonda Ellis, Executive Director, Danville Area Visitors Bureau. “This mural honors the incredible natural resources that enhance the quality of life for residents and attract visitors from throughout the region.”
Mike Meyer is widely known for his work with the WallDog movement, a nationwide initiative dedicated to preserving and celebrating community heritage through large-scale murals and public art. His distinctive hand-painted murals can be found across the United States and internationally, bringing history and local pride to life through colorful and engaging artwork.
The unveiling event will provide community members with an opportunity to view the completed mural, meet project supporters, and celebrate another addition to Vermilion County’s growing collection of public art and placemaking initiatives.
