Volunteer Opportunity – Memorial Day Ceremony at Danville National Cemetery

Volunteers are needed to place American flags at every gravesite at the Danville National Cemetery.
Flags will be provided. No need to RSVP.

Danville National Cemetery will host a Memorial Day ceremony to commemorate those who have given their lives while serving in America’s military.
The ceremony will include guest speakers and a wreath-laying ceremony.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Danville National Cemetery will host a solemn Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony, accompanied by speeches, a moment of silence, a rifle volley, and the playing of Taps. Patriotic music will be provided by the Danville Municipal Band.
Local musician, Kurt Kiser will perform the National Anthem. The Illinois Marine Corps. League will Post and Retire the Colors. The Rifle Volley, and Taps, will be provided by the American Legion Post 210 of Danville. VA Illiana Police Services will assist with traffic control.
Please bring your own chair if you don’t wish to stand. The ceremony will last approx. 1 hour. The Danville National Cemetery respectfully asks no one to park in the grass of the cemetery.
