Stardew Valley IRL
Within Stardew Valley, there are parts of the in-game universe that overlap with our world. Our character plants, mines, forages and reconnects to their world after leaving corporate Joja. We can explore these hobbies IRL as well. Join us as we bring together adult nature nerds and gamer geeks through this Stardew Valley inspired series of beginner-friendly presentations and activities.
In the first of the series on February 28, 2pm, at Forest Glen Preserve, we will stay indoors and check out the minerals that can be found in-game. We will use properties like color, hardness, and streak to identify rocks and minerals with guest presenter Hannah Veldhuizen from the Illinois State Geological Survey. The guided rock and mineral ID will be a great first step to becoming a rock-hound.
