Collaborative Music Performance at DACC

Guests and members of the DACC community will be performing Terry Riley’s In C in the Bremer Theater.

It will mark the 60th anniversary of the piece, which premiered in San Francisco on that date in 1964.

DACC Music Professor Eric Simonson explains the piece, “The score consists of 53 patterns that are played consecutively. Each pattern is to be repeated an unspecified number of times, with each player deciding during the performance when they will move to the next pattern. A steady 8th-note pulse is heard that assures that everyone is playing their patterns at the same speed. The instruments used in our performance will include guitar, bass, trumpet, electric violin, keyboards, percussion, and vocals.”
