Blast off with Danville’s very own Fireworks Manufacturing Co.
The Star Fireworks Manufacturing Company specialized in ground and aerial fireworks throughout the United States from 1945 to 1995. Their lakefront displays entertained Chicago and Milwaukee for decades. Their work was commissioned for Presidents Eisenhower, Carter & Reagan. Star was one of four fireworks manufacturers in Vermilion County. The others were: Illinois Fireworks Co., World Fireworks, and Midwest Fireworks. The rocket shown was created by Star Fireworks. It became a well known landmark and was known locally as “The Rocket on 74.”
