DESCRIPTION:On May 25\, 2026\, at 11 a.m.\, Danville National Cemetery will host a Memorial Day ceremony to commemorate those who have given their lives while serving in America’s military. \nThe ceremony will include guest speakers\, live performances of local musicians\, and a wreath-laying ceremony. \nThe Department of Veterans Affairs Danville National Cemetery will host a solemn Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony\, accompanied by speeches\, a moment of silence\, a rifle volley\, and the playing of Taps on Monday\, May 25\, 2026\, at 11 a.m. Patriotic music will be provided by the Danville Municipal Band. \nLocal musician\, Kurt Kiser will perform the National Anthem. \nThe Illinois Marine Corps. League will Post and Retire the Colors. \nThe Rifle Volley\, and Taps\, will be provided by the American Legion Post 210 of Danville. \nVA Illiana Police Services will assist with traffic control. \nPlease bring your own chair if you don’t wish to stand. The ceremony will last approx. 1 hour. \nThe Danville National Cemetery respectfully asks no one to park in the grass of the cemetery. \n  \n  \nIn anticipation of the ceremony flags will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. \nVolunteers are invited to join this effort on  Saturday\, May 23rd\, from 10 a.m. \nVolunteers for the flag placement do not need to RSVP. \nIf you would like more information\, please contact Jake Serd at 217-554-4550.

SUMMARY:Gospel Peace Concert at New Life Church of Faith
DESCRIPTION:Reverend Frank McCullough is promoting love and harmony in the Danville community through gospel music. \nRev. McCullough’s “Unity and Peace Concert” will take place on Sat.\, Oct. 18\, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.\, in the New Life Church of Faith at 1419 N. Bowman St.\, Danville. \nFeatured performers include Bishop Dr. James T. Jackson and the Voices of Praise\, acclaimed gospel artist Calandra Gantt\, and the gospel group Born Again. The concert is a free-will event sponsored by Rev. McCullough’s Mt. Olive Baptist Church. \nRev. McCullough believes that spiritual music can help galvanize the community.  He says\, “This concert is an open invitation for all people in our city and county to join us in bringing hope\, peace\, and connection in Danville. It’s not just an event—it’s a movement for building bridges instead of walls.” \nA life-long resident of Danville\, Rev. McCullough is the pastor of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Along with NAACP President Edward J. Butler\, Rev. McCullough is a co-founder of the Three Kings of Peace and the director of the mentoring center. He also serves as first vice president for the Danville NAACP\, and as president of the Ministerial Association International. \nFor more information about the Oct. 18 concert\, call Rev. McCullough at 217-766-8735 or visit the Web site at 3KINGSOFPEACES.org \nThe 3 Kings of Peace Mentoring Center is located at 302 W. Roselawn Street. The Mentoring Center hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.\, weekdays. The Center also offers fitness classes\, including basketball\, soccer\, pickleball\, and weightlifting. The Center is nonsectarian and welcomes all youth\, regardless of their religious beliefs. \n\nRenowned gospel singer Calandra Gantt is a featured performer for the Oct. 18 Gospel Peace Concert\, 6 – 8 p.m. in the New Life Church of Faith at 1419 N.
