DESCRIPTION:The River to Rail Ride bicycling event is back this year on September 14\, 2024. \nHosted by the Vermilion County Conservation District\, the event will have four routes starting at Kennekuk County Park with all proceeds benefiting the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. \nRegistration is now open. All proceeds from this fundraising bicycle event will support the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. \nThe four SAG-supported cycling routes – 7.5-mile\, 30-mile\, 37-mile\, and 63-mile – all begin and end at the White Oak Barn\, Kennekuk County Park. With the exception of the 7.5-mile route\, cyclists will bike the entire completed section of the Vermilion County KRT including the 1/4-mile Trestle Bridge 90 feet over the Middle Fork River.Those that register by Thursday\, August 15 will be guaranteed a t-shirt in their requested size. SUMMARY:Lake Vermilion Clean Up Day
DESCRIPTION:Aqua Illinois\, Inc.\, in partnership with the Lake Vermilion Water Quality Coalition\, has announced the annual “Lake Vermilion Clean-Up Day” on Friday\, May 31\, from 8 a.m. until approximately noon. \nThis clean-up day will focus on removing debris in and around the lake\, such as barrels\, trash\, runaway dock floats\, as well as shoreline cleanup. \nResidents living on the lake who would like debris removed from their shoreline are encouraged to bag\, box or neatly pile the items for removal and place them in a visible area. Organizations and individuals interested in volunteering their services are greatly appreciated. \nParticipants are asked to meet at the Vermilion County Conservation District’s boat-trailer parking lot\, 2607 Denmark Road\, no later than 8 a.m. and wear appropriate clothing for the job. Gloves will be provided\, and participants will be treated to donuts and refreshments before work begins. DESCRIPTION:The River to Rail Ride bicycling event is back this year on September 9\, 2023. \nHosted by the Vermilion County Conservation District\, the event will have four routes starting at Kennekuk County Park with all proceeds benefiting the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. \nThree of the routes will take cyclists to the Vermilion County Kickapoo Rail Trail section which includes the 1/4-mile Trestle Bridge 90 feet above the Middle Fork River. The fourth route will stay within Kennekuk County Park\, perfect for beginning cyclists and families with young children. \nRegistration price includes SAG stops and support along the routes\, a t-shirt\, and lunch. \nRegistration begins at 7 AM Saturday\, at the White Oak Barn at Kennekuk County Park.  They’ll be out there all morning\, so you can get started whenever you like. \nRegistration Link \nCall 217-442-1691 for more information.
