SUMMARY:River to Rail Bike Ride for KRT
DESCRIPTION:The River to Rail Ride bicycling event is back this year on September 13\, 2025. \nHosted by the Vermilion County Conservation District\, the event will have four routes starting at Kennekuk County Park with all proceeds benefiting the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. \nRegistration is now open. All proceeds from this fundraising bicycle event will support the continued development of the Kickapoo Rail Trail. \nThe four SAG-supported cycling routes – 7.5-mile\, 30-mile\, 37-mile\, and 63-mile – all begin and end at the White Oak Barn\, Kennekuk County Park. With the exception of the 7.5-mile route\, cyclists will bike the entire completed section of the Vermilion County KRT including the 1/4-mile Trestle Bridge 90 feet over the Middle Fork River.Those that register by Thursday\, August 28 will be guaranteed a t-shirt in their requested size. DESCRIPTION:Experience night on a lake from a kayak.  Nights can be totally still or loud and full of life\, we will use the light of the full moon and glow sticks to discover Lake Mingo after dark.\n\nKayak registrants will be provided with safety and paddle equipment. All Participants will be required wear life jackets and be provided with glow sticks.\n\nPreregistration is required.    Ages 12 and up\, under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n$15/person or $5/BYO Boat.\n\nVCCD will refund only if the program is cancelled by the organization.

DESCRIPTION:The Bunker Hill Historic Area buildings at Kennekuk County Park will also be staffed with volunteers and open to the public for tours on Sunday\, July 7\, 2024 from 1 – 4 pm.\n\nThe Neff Grocery Store\, Atwood Home\, Bismarck Train Depot\, Red Oak School\, Old Time Print Shop\, and the Mack and Son Barber Shop take people back to the time period of 1890’s-1940’s.\n\nTo add to the nostalgia\, the Redbud String Band will be performing at the Gazebo located in the Bunker Hill Historic Area.  The Redbud String Band will play two sets\, 1 pm and 2:30 pm\, with a mixture of American old time\, Celtic (Scots and Irish)\, Civil War era\, and some early 20th century ragtime.\n\nBring your lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon of nostalgia with tours of the buildings and live music!

DESCRIPTION:Experience night on a lake from a kayak. Nights can be totally still or loud and full of life\, we will use the light of the full moon and glow sticks to discover Lake Mingo after dark.\n\nKayak registrants will be provided with safety and paddle equipment.
