DESCRIPTION:As part of Vermilion County’s 200th Anniversary Celebration the Vermilion County Museum will be conducting guided tours throughout the county during the summer months.  The current schedule includes: \nJune 6 – Oakwood\, Fithian\, Muncie areas – pick up point at Vermilion County Fairgrounds @ 9 AM \nJune 13 – Westville\, Grape Creek\, Hawbuck\, Belgium areas – pick up point at Depot Museum (Route 1 by Westville Library) @ 9:30 AM \nJune 20 – Bismarck\, Rossville\, Alvin areas – pick up point at Northside Christian Church of Christ (17167 E. 2750 N. Rd\, Bismarck) @ 9 AM \nSOLD OUT     July 18 – Sidell\, Indianola areas – pick up point at Catlin Banquet Center (old IGA\, Catlin) @ 9 AM \nJuly 25 – Hoopeston area (involves walking) – pick up point at McFerren Park @ 9 AM \nOther tours are being planned for Potomac\, Armstrong\, Collison areas; Catlin\, Fairmount\, Jamaica areas; and Ridge Farm\, Georgetown areas.  Check the Museum’s website for updated information as tours are added. \nThe only cost for the tours will be a $10.00 non-refundable registration fee for each tour.  Tours will be on school buses and last approximately 2-3 hours.  This program is an adult level presentation; any children attending must be 12 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. \nLimited seating\, registration opens on Friday\, March 20\, 2026. \nRegistration fee must be received before your spot is secured. \nCall 217-442-2922 to make your reservation or obtain additional information.

DESCRIPTION:Summer Market Season 2026 \nEvery Saturday from May 16 – October 3\, 2026 \n8 AM – Noon \nThe Danville Farmers Market will open its 2026 summer season on Saturday\, May 16\, bringing local produce\, handmade goods\, and community activities back to the city each weekend through the early fall. \nThe market will operate every Saturday from May 16 through Oct. 3\, 2026\, from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be located at 2721 N. Vermilion St. in Danville\, in the former Kmart parking lot/the DIY Storage lot. \n75+ local vendors are expected to participate throughout the season. Shoppers will find a wide range of products including fresh seasonal produce\, baked goods\, honey\, handmade crafts\, and other locally produced items. As the growing season progresses\, vendors will continue adding new fruits\, vegetables\, and specialty products. \nThe market has several new additions for the 2026 season to enhance the visitor experience. These include themed market days\, live music\, and a new shaded Rest Spot Area where visitors can sit\, relax\, cool down with water\, and visit with friends while enjoying the market atmosphere. \nThe Market has several programs designed to support both shoppers and vendors. \nThe market’s Loyalty Rewards Program allows shoppers to receive $2 in Farmers Market Bucks when they spend $20 with a vendor. The Farmers Market Bucks can then be used with any vendor at the market. \nThe Danville Farmers Market also accepts benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) via the LINK program. Through this program\, shoppers receive additional incentives to help stretch their food budgets.   For instance\, for every $10 in LINK benefits used\, shoppers receive $10 in tokens and $10 in vouchers. Kennekuk County Park will host an Illinois Department of Natural Resources ENTICE workshop\, Illinois Dragonflies\, on Saturday\, June 27\, 2026\, from 9am – 3pm.Rusty snaketail\, prince baskettail\, and eastern amberwing all have one thing in common: being an Illinois dragonfly! Take part in field work and lab studies as we discuss the identification\, life history\, and behaviors of these fascinating invertebrates\, both as aquatic nymphs and as adults. This workshop is for grades 6 to 10 but can be adapted for other grades.Pre-registration is required\, $11/person\, at https://www.enticeworkshops.com. Experience ENTICE! Classroom resources\, materials\, and books will be provided to participants.This workshop is offered through the ENTICE (Environment and Nature Training Institute for Conservation Education) for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. DESCRIPTION:As part of Vermilion County’s 200th Anniversary Celebration the Vermilion County Museum will be conducting guided tours throughout the county during the summer months.  The current schedule includes: \nJune 6 – Oakwood\, Fithian\, Muncie areas – pick up point at Vermilion County Fairgrounds @ 9 AM \nJune 13 – Westville\, Grape Creek\, Hawbuck\, Belgium areas – pick up point at Depot Museum (Route 1 by Westville Library) @ 9:30 AM \nJune 20 – Bismarck\, Rossville\, Alvin areas – pick up point at Northside Christian Church of Christ (17167 E. 2750 N. Rd\, Bismarck) @ 9 AM \nSOLD OUT     July 18 – Sidell\, Indianola areas – pick up point at Catlin Banquet Center (old IGA\, Catlin) @ 9 AM \nJuly 25 – Hoopeston area (involves walking) – pick up point at McFerren Park @ 9 AM \nOther tours are being planned for Potomac\, Armstrong\, Collison areas; Catlin\, Fairmount\, Jamaica areas; and Ridge Farm\, Georgetown areas.  Check the Museum’s website for updated information as tours are added. \nThe only cost for the tours will be a $10.00 non-refundable registration fee for each tour.  Tours will be on school buses and last approximately 2-3 hours.  This program is an adult level presentation; any children attending must be 12 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult. \nLimited seating\, registration opens on Friday\, March 20\, 2026. \nRegistration fee must be received before your spot is secured. \nCall 217-442-2922 to make your reservation or obtain additional information.

DESCRIPTION:Summer Market Season 2026 \nEvery Saturday from May 16 – October 3\, 2026 \n8 AM – Noon \nThe Danville Farmers Market will open its 2026 summer season on Saturday\, May 16\, bringing local produce\, handmade goods\, and community activities back to the city each weekend through the early fall. \nThe market will operate every Saturday from May 16 through Oct. 3\, 2026\, from 8 a.m. to noon. It will be located at 2721 N. Vermilion St. in Danville\, in the former Kmart parking lot/the DIY Storage lot. \n75+ local vendors are expected to participate throughout the season. Shoppers will find a wide range of products including fresh seasonal produce\, baked goods\, honey\, handmade crafts\, and other locally produced items. As the growing season progresses\, vendors will continue adding new fruits\, vegetables\, and specialty products. \nThe market has several new additions for the 2026 season to enhance the visitor experience. These include themed market days\, live music\, and a new shaded Rest Spot Area where visitors can sit\, relax\, cool down with water\, and visit with friends while enjoying the market atmosphere. \nThe Market has several programs designed to support both shoppers and vendors. \nThe market’s Loyalty Rewards Program allows shoppers to receive $2 in Farmers Market Bucks when they spend $20 with a vendor. The Farmers Market Bucks can then be used with any vendor at the market. \nThe Danville Farmers Market also accepts benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) via the LINK program. Through this program\, shoppers receive additional incentives to help stretch their food budgets.   For instance\, for every $10 in LINK benefits used\, shoppers receive $10 in tokens and $10 in vouchers.
