The official screening will\nkick off the Dick Van Dyke Festival (FischerFest: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dick\nVan Dyke presented by the Halloran Family Foundation)\, taking place at The Fischer\nTheatre on December 6 & 7. The festival will also feature a full day of his classic films\,\ninteractive art activities\, and a community birthday tribute to honor Mr. Van Dyke’s 100th\nbirthday.\nth\nFilled with laughter\, music\, and touching moments\, Dick Van Dyke: 100th Celebration\, a\nfeature-length film from Emmy-winning filmmakers Steve Boettcher and Michael Trinklein\nhonors the unmatched career of an actor\, singer\, dancer\, and comedian extraordinaire — a\ntrue American treasure. The film weaves together classic TV and film clips\, heartfelt\ninterviews with Van Dyke and his legendary co-stars\, and a moving visit with the star to\nhis hometown of Danville\, Illinois. The film offers a first-hand account of the man behind\nthe performances\, drawing from three decades of interviews conducted by the\nfilmmakers with Van Dyke’s co-stars including Mary Tyler Moore\, Carl Reiner\, Rose Marie\,\nMorey Amsterdam\, Betty White\, and Tim Conway. Distributed by Fathom Entertaiment\,\nthe film will be in theaters nationwide for two days only—December 13 and 14—during\nDick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday weekend. \nThe two-day line-up includes:\nSaturday\, December 6\n5-6:30 PM Hors d’oeuvres\, live art demonstration\, entertainment\, and more\n6:30 PM Surprise Announcements and National Premiere of\nDick Van Dyke: 100 Celebration\nth\nSunday\, December 7\n11:00 AM Bye Bye Birdie\n2:30 PM The Comic\n6:00 PM Mary Poppins \nOn Saturday evening\, guests will be treated to a live art demonstration and\nentertainment\, access to the Fischer’s extensive Dick Van Dyke memorabilia collection\,\nhors d’oeuvres\, surprise announcements and the national premiere of the Dick Van Dyke\ndocumentary.\nBefore each film on Sunday\, Chuck Koplinski will share the film’s behind-the-scenes facts\nand interesting anecdotes. After each film\, he will offer a Q&A with the audience for 10\nminutes. Chuck is known for his work on the show Reel Talk with Chuck & Pam\, where\nthey review movies and streaming series. They are based in Chicago and Central Illinois.\nFood will be provided for the December 6 event by The Local from 5-6:30 PM in the lobby\n– heavy appetizers. Fischer concessions will be available for both days of the event.\nLocal Artist Katie Weston will create a live\, date-stamped portrait of Dick Van Dyke during\nthe Saturday evening event. Members of the Danville Symphony Orchestra will also\nprovide musical entertainment.\nCustom\, commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase. Dick Van Dyke photos and\nmemorabilia will be on display from the Fischer’s extensive collection. Original artwork by\nJohn Jansky will also be on display. Themed cocktails and trivia questions will round out\nthe weekend fun.\nAs a special tribute\, a giant canvas “birthday card” will be available all weekend for\neveryone to stop by and add their signature.
